Mooring

Sail Lanka operates the first mini-marinas in Sri Lanka

The country has few places for sailing boats and small yachts to moor. Since 2012 we offer mooring options on our pontoons for local and visiting boat owners. In our main base of Mirissa, facilities are open throughout the year.

In addition to berthing, Sail Lanka also offers maintenance and repair services. Through our sister companies, Solar Impulse and BAFF Polymech, boat owners have access to sailmaking, fiberworks, welding, mechanical engineers, and 3D printing. We have built considerable expertise in all these sectors, after the construction of more than 30 boats, production of hundreds of sails and manufacturing a large amount of parts for boats.

The pontoons are located in the Mirissa Fisheries Harbour, a working harbour used by fishing boats as well as by whale watching boats. The harbour is open throughout the year and is busiest between 6 am and 10 am when the fishing boats return, the whale watchers leave. The local fish market opens is located 5 minutes from the berthing point by foot.

Approaching from the water, Sail Lanka pontoons are the first pontoons that are encountered. When , entering the harbour from the land, the Sail Lanka pontoons are located at the very end of the harbour as one turns right onto the breakwater.

When hiring a mooring spot a key will be given for the lock on the gate. Fresh water and electricity are provided. Sail Lanka staff are on call daily to provide service and advice and to link clients with our sister companies for supplies, repairs and maintenance when needed.
